By a joint media installation, Nikita Shalenny and Expolight opened the Ukrainian-Austrian exhibition Between Fire and Fire: Ukrainian Art Now, initiated by curators Alisa Lozhkina and Konstantin Akinsha with the support of the Ukrainian Institute - Ukrainian Institute and ZenkoFoundation
At the Atelierhaus der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, the stunning multi-tiered Semperdepot of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, we placed our art installation “The Bridge”. An ideal place to work with light is a high atrium, the ability to view the exhibition from tiers at different heights, versatility and perspective.
In the atrium, eight screens of a special multilayer film with a height of 15-16 meters each were arranged in different planes and at different heights. Images of running phantoms were projected on the screens, each of which was formed by groups of several fan-located projectors, the images of which were stitched into a single, multifaceted picture.
For the Viennese public, this was a kind of continuation of the discussion about Ukrainian art as a reflection of the time of changes in Ukraine.
