Assembled from modular sea containers, the shopping center “Kubometr” is a relatively temporary building, which was made in place of the future capital building. After some time “Kubometr” will change its location but now it is a metaphor of movement and transformation which are unavoidable in life.
The future history of this project was implemented in a light conception: multimedia waves roll by a side plane creating an effect of movement for the energy saved in containers.
The light was integrated into the containers to the point that it is almost impossible to see the light sources themselves.
To achieve this, the constructors developed hidden nodes and compact lamps with focusing narrow-angle lenses.
Lamps having the colors of the containers provide the maximum stretching and shine through the wall with a gradient on a full height when the facade planes are taken out on less than 10 cm.
Since the illumination goes upside down in some points, secondary light-blocking devices were developed to fully exclude the visibility of the light sources.
Also, we would like to put the accent on a difficult control system. Since the complex is assembled from disconnected containers, the wiring was not possible everywhere. The problem of smooth and continuous overflow of waves was solved by the combination of the wireless signal of multiple controllers into one system.
